Let’s talk beer!  Yay, you say!  Would you love to hear about Lone Star or some other distinctly Texas beer?!

Sorry, we are going to talk Adolphus Busch of Anheuser-Busch fame.  Yeah, that guy who was born in Germany and spent most of his life in St. Louis is about to be given a lot of space on this Dallas blog for a few reasons.

1.      1.   He is responsible for some of the most magnificent buildings in Dallas, including the now-destroyed Oriental Hotel, the Adolphus and the Kirby Building.

2.     2.    He has a dang interesting life – like being his mother’s 14th child but his father’s 21st child.  Twenty-first.  You read that correctly.

3.       3.  He seems like a pretty decent human being and a highly-regarded philanthropist, so we are going to make him an honorary Dallasite for the next few posts.

A dashing and young Adolphus Busch is pictured here – he will become famous for a handle bar mustache.

All three of the above buildings are on our tours.
