Happy Valentine’s Day!

For our day of romance, let’s summarize our posts re: Honorary Dallasite, Adolphus Busch.

Super quick summary:  Sex, beer, money.

Slightly longer summary:  21st of 22 children (sex!), Adolphus Busch was born in Germany but moved to the US in his late teens to join some of his already-established older siblings.  He and one of his brothers would marry Anheuser sisters.  Adolphus invested in his father-in-law’s brewing company (beer!) and made a small fortune (money!) off the European and Eastern European immigrants who admired the Old World pilsner.  (more beer!)  Adolphus and his wife Lilly would go on to have 13 children. (more sex!)

Our next post is about the innovations that truly made Adolphus Busch famous in the brewing world – and brought with it lots more loot.  When he initially invested in his father-in-law’s brewery, the beer was so bitter that people spit it out – it was such a shock to the mouth.
