Holmes’ crimes were catching up with him – murders, insurance fraud, unpaid contractors in Fort Worth, stolen horses……  These crimes landed him in Moyamensing prison.  The prison was created in 1835 to look like a huge castle fortress and was already 60 years old when Holmes found himself incarcerated within.  Another famous inmate?  Edgar Allan Poe for public drunkenness in 1845.  The prison was destroyed in 1968 and this is all that is left – I have no idea why this small portion was left behind.
