Why does Dallas have two of these magnificent beasts?  The original glowing red Pegasus sat atop the Magnolia Building on Commerce Street.  It was placed there in 1934 and by 1999 was deemed too worn and subsequently dismantled.  A brand new, glowing version was lit on January 1, 2000 in front of the Omni Hotel.

Years after the dismantling, dedicated Dallasites began wondering what happened to the original icon. They set about finding it.  The original, worn sign was located in a storage shed near White Rock Lake in 2011.  After a $200,000 facelift, the refurbished original Pegasus was relit on top the Magnolia Building, its original home, in May of 2015.
