The Dallas Morning News Mortuary Reports from March 15th, 1899 list “Max Eberle, 34 years, found hanging from a switch beam at the side of the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe track in South Dallas.  Coroner has not yet rendered a verdict as to the cause of death.”  As African-American men and women were identified as ‘colored’ in the listings, and this man has no such notation, he must have been Caucasian.

This is the entire listing for Max Eberle’s death on the 15th but articles from the 16th and 17th would list the grisly details.  Make sure to look for us next Wednesday when we conclude the Max Eberle death and reveal a sketch of the victim.
