Here is our next nevermore structure – the original building of the Ursuline Convent completed in the 1880s in Dallas. There would be two more wings added to each side over the next 20 years. The entire finished structure took up 9 acres between Live Oak, Haskell, Bryan and St. Joseph Streets. The building would stand until 1950 when it was razed by the new owners of the property, Beard and Stone Electric. The Ursulines would relocate to Walnut Hill Lane where they reused the original cornerstone and bell.
The style of this building is considered neo-Gothic.  We have a neo-Gothic building on our tours; the Kirby building in the West End was funded by Adolphus Busch of *that* beer fame.  It is a bit more restrained than the convent, but incredibly impressive.
