This is Dr. John William Crowdus’ headstone in Pioneer Park. He shares this grave marker with his first wife and infant daughter. Dr. Crowdus was a surgeon serving in the Civil War at the age of 21. (19th century Doogie Howser!) He would build a pharmacy empire later in life. Access to all of those ‘cures’ didn’t save him from a gnarly death, though.
