Pre-dating Ground Hog’s Day by 31 years is the incorporation of Dallas as a city! Dallas became a real, live city on February 2, 1856. Ground Hog’s Day, on the other hand, was first celebrated on February 2, 1887 at (I can’t make this sh*t up) Gobbler’s Knob, Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. It was 77 here today in Dallas, so that early spring is definitely on the way.
