Train Wreck

Katy freight and passenger trains collide between Dallas and Garland, killing 1, injuring 50.

The passenger train was heavily loaded with people and was headed to the State Fair, traveling nearly 60 miles an hour to make up time – they were 25 minutes behind schedule. The conductor of the freight train was wearing a watch that was more than 30 minutes off the actual time. This was a recipe for disaster.

Want to hear more about the early years of Garland? Join me for a tour this Saturday, November 3rd! 5:30 pm and again at 7 pm. We start at the Millhouse Pizzeria and Stage (532 Main Street, Garland, TX) where you can purchase an adult beverage and bring it on the tour. Tours are 1 hour long and cost $10 cash.
