This cemetery is also known as the William Andrew Murphy cemetery or the Mouldon cemetery.
This is a very small, very quaint and somewhat uncared for cemetery. I say that because the grass and weeds were more than knee high, but that benign neglect might be protecting the plots. I would have never known there was a cemetery here unless a friend from the area had pointed it out.
William Murphy set this plot aside in 1872 when his sister died. He wanted his sons and their families to be buried on the north side of the plot and his daughters/their families to be buried on the south side. However, only a few decades later, the family moved west and other community members started using the graveyard for their own burials. These burials began in the late 1800s and continued until 1988.
Of interest is a wood headstone belonging to Minday McMillen, born in 1820. The death date is obscured. For being as old as it is, the wood is in great shape. I wonder if it is made of bois d’arc wood?
Another headstone of interest is that of Josh Otis King who appears to have been about 22 years old when he died. Because this is one of the most ornate headstones in the cemetery, it caught my eye. It further intrigued me because I have no idea what that hand is holding. If you know, or have a good guess, please reply.
